WATCH: Alabama softball star Kristen White busts fencing to make spectacular grab
Alabama outfielder Kristen White pulled off an improbable catch Saturday against Indiana. With the No. 15 Crimson Tide leading 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth, the Hoosiers’ Sarah Stone hit a ball to center field that looked like it had a chance at being a home run.
White made sure that didn’t happen, however, racing toward the ball and colliding with the fencing to come away with the eye-popping catch. The grab prevented Indiana from scoring its first run, keeping hope of a shutout alive as the Hoosier went three-up-three-down in the fourth. You can view the play below.
Alabama added four more runs in the fifth inning and went on to finish the shutout to claim a 10-0 victory. In addition to her incredible defensive play, White finished with two RBI in the win.
The Crimson Tide (5-2) got off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and seemed to only get better as the game went on. The game was part of the 2023 TaxAct Clearwater Invitational. In addition to the recent win against Indiana, the Crimson Tide also defeated a pair of ranked opponents in Duke and UCF as part of the invitational. They’ve also lost to No. 2 UCLA and will play their final game of the invitational against Florida State at 5 p.m. CT on Sunday.
Kristen White is in her first season with Alabama but is already making an impact. She has five put outs this season, including two from Saturday’s contest. She also scored her first run of the season, finishing with one hit and two RBI.
