Alabama left-handed pitcher Alton Davis has entered the NCAA transfer portal with a do-not-contact tag following the 2024 season, On3 has learned.

The sophomore was the team’s closer this season, earning a spot on the Stopper of the Year Midseason watch list. He finished with four saves on the year, which wasn’t quite as good as his freshman campaign.

As a rookie with the Crimson Tide, Davis was named a second-team freshman All-American by the NCBWA, while also earning a place on the Freshman All-SEC Team.

He led Alabama with eight saves as a freshman, which tied him for second in the Southeastern Conference. He also led all Alabama pitchers with appearances in 25 games. So he can certainly be counted on.

Alton Davis finished his freshman year with a 1-2 record and a 5.35 ERA, working through 33.2 innings and recording 32 strikeouts against 12 walks.

As a sophomore in 2024 he finished with a 4-2 record on 21 appearances, sporting a 5.61 ERA. He struck out 38 and walked 17 in 33.2 innings of work, a similar overall usage as his freshman season.

Alton Davis isn’t the first Alabama player to hit the transfer portal this offseason, either.

Alabama outfielder enters transfer portal

Alabama junior outfielder Camden Hayslip has entered the NCAA transfer portal with a do-not-contact tag, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.

Hayslip is a 6-foot-2 junior and two-time SEC academic honor roll member.

He has made relatively scant impact at Alabama, appearing in only a handful of games in each of his three seasons with the program.

Hayslip appeared in eight games with two starts as a rookie in 2022, batting .200 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. He would parlay that success into a doubling of appearances the following year.

In 2023, Hayslip appeared in 16 games and made one start. He batted .211 and hit a grand slam, while notching six RBI, four runs and two walks.

But in 2024, his junior year, Hayslip’s appearances slipped to just seven games, though he did start two contests. He failed to record a hit in 11 at-bats, while he drew two walks as his only contributions at the plate.

In addition to Alton Davis and Camden Hayslip, Alabama infielder Joey Rubin also entered the transfer portal.
