Alabama got all they could handle in their regional matchups against MTSU from Tuscaloosa. After taking care of business against the Blue Raiders on Saturday, the host then dropped their second game against the Conference USA opponent.

That left one game this afternoon to decide the final spot in the Super Regionals. Thanks to graduate catcher Ally Shipman, though, the Crimson Tide left nothing to chance as they advanced to the next round due to the margin that came from her solo home run at the bottom of the seventh.

Questions surrounding Montana Fouts heading into the weekend had many thinking that ‘Bama could be vulnerable on their home field of Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa. They put that thought to rest early considering their pair of wins over LIU and MTSU by a combined score of 17-5.

Still, after dropping Sunday’s first game by a score of 4-1, Alabama surely needed Shipman’s heroics to get across the finish line. Her score took the Tide to next weekend where they’ll now await the winner out of the Evanston Regional between Northwestern and Miami (OH).

Nick Saban spotted in Rome on vacation per social media

Where in the world is Nick Saban? It is the offseason, after all, so that’s a fair question to ask.

According to a social media post Wednesday, the Alabama headman has been spotted. He’s in Rome — proudly repping the Crimson Tide with his quarter-zip sweatshirt, too.

A picture of Saban was circulated on social media over the weekend. Still, Even the GOAT has to get away now and again, right?

Saban’s vacation lines up with a quieter period on the college football calendar. Spring football is in the rearview mirror. The SEC spring meetings will come next in two weeks in Destin, Florida. Apparently, it’s the perfect time for an international getaway.

Saban and the rest of the SEC coaches will make their way to Destin for the spring meetings. There are plenty of topics on the table — but perhaps none bigger than the future of the SEC schedule.

Saban has expressed concern about how the nine-game schedule would look. He specifically references the three permanent opponents that would come with it. That’s why all eyes will be on Destin at the end of the month when talks heat up and, quite possibly, a decision is made.
