Alabama tight end Ty Lockwood plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Alabama Crimson Tide tight end Ty Lockwood plans to enter the transfer portal. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news.
Lockwood recorded the first stats of his career in 2024. In the Mercer game on November 16, Lockwood caught one pass for five yards. This comes one year after Lockwood used a redshirt season with the Crimson Tide.
In 2023, Lockwood played in two games against Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga. However, he did not record a reception or a carry in either one of those games. Only playing in two games, he was able to use a redshirt and still has four seasons of eligibility remaining.
Ty Lockwood played high school football at Independence (TN), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 242 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Alabama in the 2024 season
The Crimson Tide just wrapped up the 2024 season, which is the first under head coach Kalen DeBoer. Alabama posted a 9-3 record in the regular season, which not only left it out of the SEC title game, but also on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff.

Ultimately, Alabama was left out and ended up playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl vs. the Michigan Wolverines. That ended in a 19-13 win for Michigan and brought a sour ending to the first year of the DeBoer era.
While it is early, DeBoer is believed to be in trouble at Alabama by analyst and radio host Paul Finebaum. On Get Up on Wednesday, Finebaum explained more.
“It was a mess and Alabama fans with whom I’ve been in contact with since yesterday are hopping mad,” Finebaum said. “A lot of the good that he did early in the season went out the window. People will talk about ‘is he in trouble,’ and he’s not in trouble for his job but let me make it clear, the goodwill is gone for him. He enters a very critical season next year because I firmly believe he’s on a scorching hot seat. Doesn’t mean he’ll get fired but he’s gonna undergo a great deal of pressure next year.”
