Alabama transfer DB Jahlil Hurley commits to Kansas Jayhawks
Alabama transfer defensive back Jahlil Hurley has committed to the Kansas Jayhawks, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He will have three years of eligibility remaining. Hurley was ranked as a Top 50 recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to On3.
Hurley didn’t see any game action in 2023, but garnered plenty of hype on the recruiting trail. A product of Florence (Ala.), he was the No. 50 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
During the 2024 season, Hurley saw the field in nine games as a depth defensive back and on special teams. He finished the season with one tackle.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers. That means roughly 25% of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year.
