Alabama WR Malik Benson enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Alabama wide receiver Malik Benson officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday evening, On3 has learned. Benson had 13 catches for 162 receiving yards and a touchdown this year. He was the No. 1 overall rated JUCO player in the nation in the 2021 cycle.

Benson was widely regarded as the nation’s top junior college prospect coming out of Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He hauled in 43 catches for 1,229 yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games his freshman year at Hutchinson. Following the season, he was rewarded with NJCAA Division I All-American honors. As a sophomore, he hauled in 923 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, shattering the Hutchinson Community College school record for receiving yards (2,152).

In high school, Benson finished with 700 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns his senior year at Lansing (Lansing, Kansas). When it came down to choosing colleges out of high school, he picked the Tide over offers from Georgia, LSU, Oregon, and Tennessee.
