It’s a big weekend for Alabama as they take on Ole Miss in their first conference game of the season following a home loss to Texas and a disappointing showing on the road versus USF last Saturday.

There’s no question that the Crimson Tide a few more areas of concern than fans are accustomed to having in Tuscaloosa, and ahead of Week 4, college football analyst Joel Klatt believes that panic is the word to describe how Alabama fans should feel at the moment.

“You’re not gonna like this Bama fans, but if I were you, this is like panic. And everyone’s gonna take this screenshot and get all upset, and you know what, just hear me out,” Klatt said. “This team is different, you and I both know that Bama fan. This is not what you’ve been in the last five or six years since the offense shifted and has been more high profile and high powered, we both know that. The offensive line has some problems in pass protection, not what you have been at wide receiver, and clearly what you have not been at quarterback.”

Alabama has played three different quarterbacks this season in an attempt to find their bonafide QB1, and they’ve all been sacked a combined 12 times throughout the process. Jalen Milroe started the first two games for the Crimson Tide and has been named the starter for this weekend, but Klatt believes Alabama’s panic goes beyond their offense.

“Now if you’ve listened to this show for any amount of time you know that I still believe in Alabama, and in the quick cycle that is college football now with the transfer portal, Alabama is not done. Nick Saban is not done okay?” Klatt said. “However, if you’re gonna have a slide this year you know why you should be panicked? Because it’s like not like this, it’s like no no no, if we’re gonna go out this year we can’t go out like this. We can’t go out losing to a former assistant in Steve Sarkisian and Texas although you know what, they’re really good and they’ve been building for a while. Not Kiffin. Not like this.”

Saban’s former assistant Lane Kiffin is yet to defeat him during his tenure at Ole Miss, but given the Crimson Tide’s recent play, this could potentially be his best opportunity to date. Which Klatt believes would be a nightmare for Crimson Tide fans given the personality and antics of Kiffin.

“I’m panicked if I’m a Bama fan, you know why you should be panicked?” Klatt asked. “It’s because it’s Ole Miss coming to town, and not that Ole Miss is that great, it’s just like no no, not like this. Like okay we’re not gonna be great this year, maybe we could build, maybe we could still win the West, and we gave the blueprint of what Alabama should be. But dear God please no, not Kiffin. Kiffin’s not gonna put the nail in our coffin this year, that’s why I’m panicked this year if I’m an Alabama fan because it’s Lane Kiffin.”

“Of all the people, and the tweeting, and the incessant, ‘Oh he’s the goat, oh toughest place to win ever,’ and all this stuff and it’s like he’s setting you up. And that’s why I’d be panicked if I was a Crimson Tide fan, because not him, why does it have to be him? Not this week, not this team, no no please, please God. Bama fans, might be time to panic this week.”

Panic and stakes may be at a new all-time high in Tuscaloosa, but all questions will be answered on Saturday as the Crimson Tide host Ole Miss at 3:30 p.m. ET in a game airing on CBS.
