Bradon Miller discusses comparisons, relationship with Kevin Durant
Comparisons have been made for Alabama freshman Brandon Miller, with some of the NBA’s bests being named. Paul George was an early one but heading into their matchup this week, discussion involved Kevin Durant with Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes.
Miller has heard the Durant comparisons but does not seem too interested in entertaining them. Playing with his teammates is how Miller wants to roll. No matter who NBA scouts or analysts compare him to, Miller is doing something right for the Crimson Tide.
“I’ve heard a lot of similarities between me and KD,” Miller said during a postgame interview on SEC Network. “I’ve talked to KD but I think I just play like myself. Just, play the game how my teammates want me to.”
Another Durant-esque type performance took place on Saturday against Georgia. Miller got hot early from behind the three-point line and continued for the entire 40 minutes. He finished with a game-high 21 points as Alabama dominated the game from start to finish.
Durant took home all kinds of silverware from his one-and-done season at Texas. He was the National Player of the Year and a Consensus All-American in 2007. Miller might not be able to grab the Naismith Award but as things stand, he is well on track to be named one of the country’s five best players.

He will likely only spend one season in college basketball as well. NBA Draft boards have seen Miller shoot up to the top of the lottery and possibly even No. 3 overall. A special talent somebody will want to get their hands on.
Kevin Durant mentoring Brandon Miller
It’s one thing to be compared to a great player in the league. It’s another to have a relationship with him, as Miller says Durant has been a mentor of his. The two seemingly frequently talk about things occurring both on and off the court.
“I really look at him like a big brother, a mentor,” Miller said. “I call him when I want to. Just gives me a lot of advice about the game and about life. I think that’s the biggest thing with him.”
Durant is heading into the later stages of his career and will take some young players under his wing. Miller is going to be one of those, no matter where the Alabama star winds up getting drafted. A useful mentor to have, being one of the all-time great scorers in NBA history.
