Life is good for Alabama freshman Brandon Miller. The Crimson Tide are one of the best teams in all of college basketball and are destroying SEC opponents left and right so far. Meanwhile, Miller is putting together a monstrous freshman season that will likely end with an All-American selection and hearing his name called in the top-five of the NBA Draft next summer.

The youngster isn’t getting ahead of himself, though. A prosperous pro career may await the superstar wing, but he’s still enjoying college — kicking back with his team and trying to win a national title before he’s onto the next level.

At least, that what he said this weekend when asked if he’s thinking ahead with all the NBA scouts and draft pundits drooling over his potential.

“I think my teammates really keep me focused on the mission here,” Miller said after the LSU win on Saturday. “Our mission is to win a national championship. I try not to get too focused on all that other stuff. I can just control what I can control right now (rather) than what I can control in the future.”

Brandon Miller is focused on achieving the ultimate goal at the college level right now, rather than letting his mind drift too far towards his NBA dreams. Alabama head coach Nate Oats loves that mindset.

“He’s a really grounded kid,” Nate Oats added on Miller. “If you knew his parents, you’d understand why he’s such a good kid. They’ve kept him grounded. He’s fun-loving. He doesn’t take anything, including himself, too seriously. He’s very business-like and works, but he has a lot of fun while he’s doing it. He’s just fun to be around, he’s fun to coach.”

A coachable player and a wonderful teammate, per Oats.

“He’s great with the guys. He pulls for his teammates to do well. I think when you’ve got the kind of character and attitude that he has, good things come to you. And he’s obviously a really talented kid.”

The sky may be the limit for Brandon Miller, but for now, the kid is just focused on reaching his collegiate ceiling with the Crimson Tide.
