Another wrinkle to the Brandon Miller situation came to light on Saturday. Alabama was playing host to Arkansas on Saturday, with Miller being announced as a starter during the pregame introductions. A pat down of the Alabama star occurred and has once again gained national attention amid the murder of Jamea Harris.

Head coach Oats addressed the situation during his postgame press conference. Despite not personally being involved with pregame introductions, Oats says the move has been put to an end. Obviously not being the best look for everyone involved, Oats admitted it’s not an “appropriate” move from Miller and walk on Adam Cottrell.

“I think that’s something that’s been going on all year,” Oats said. “I’m not involved, I’m not paying attention … regardless, it’s not appropriate, it’s been addressed and I can assure you it will not happen again the remainder of this year.”

Even if this has been a thing in Tuscaloosa for some time, somebody on the Alabama sideline most likely should have shut it down. A video of Miller and Cottrell’s pregame introduction was captured by Ryan Hennessy of WVTM 13 in Birmingham. And even with a tight game occurring against Arkansas, it once again became the talking point of college basketball.

Alabama will be on the court again next Wednesday against Auburn. An outright SEC Championship can be clinched with a win. One thing is for sure though — we will see something new from Miller when it comes to being announced as a starter.

Brandon Miller stars once again in win over Arkansas

The talk of college basketball has been the story involving Miller. A lot of attention has surrounded the off-the-court issues and rightfully so. But to this point, Miller has not been phased and continued to play like one of the best players in the country.

Miller was on full display once again against Arkansas, helping a second-half comeback for Alabama. He finished with 24 points on eight of 15 shooting. He struggled from behind the three-point line, going one of six, but still was the key factor in the Crimson Tide’s offense.

This is off the back of a career-high 41 points against South Carolina on Wednesday. Miller is playing some of his best basketball of the season.

“I think he’s one of the most mentally tough, if not the most mentally tough, kids that I’ve coached in my life,” Oats said.

Even so, attention will continue to be on his name being involved in the Darius Miles case.
