Although it recorded a 41-24 win in the SEC championship game back on Dec. 4, Alabama is currently a three-point underdog to Georgia heading into next Monday night’s rematch between the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff national championship.

Top-ranked Alabama didn’t have any trouble taking care of business against Georgia in the SEC title game, as it led 24-17 at halftime and outscored the Bulldogs 17-7 in the second half to record the 17-point win. The Tide held Georgia to under 450 yards of offense and forced Stetson Bennett to throw a pair of interceptions.

Despite Alabama’s SEC championship win and all the success it has had against Georgia in recent years, the Bulldogs are still favored to beat the Tide in the national championship. For Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr., that’s no problem – and he actually embraces the underdog mentality.

“Being the underdog is just one of those normal feelings,” Robinson said. “Sometimes we always feel like the underdog even when we were expected to win a game. Just a mindset that our team has, just a mindset that our team lives with, just having that underdog mindset.

“I feel we’ll be motivated. We’ll come out with the underdog mentality and be ready to play.”

Alabama and Georgia are scheduled to kickoff at 8 p.m. ET Monday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, with ESPN carrying the national broadcast.

Robinson has put together a strong season for Alabama, having rushed for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns on 249 carries. The former On3 Consensus four-star recruit tallied 204 yards on 26 carries in the Crimson Tide’s 27-6 win over Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl semifinal on New Year’s Eve.

Heading into next Monday’s national championship game between top-ranked Alabama and No. 3 Georgia, Robinson shared his memories of watching the Crimson Tide play as a kid growing up and chose his favorite national championship.

“Just watching Alabama play in national championships as a kid was like the biggest college football game you can watch,” Robinson said. “And anybody who truly loved football or just sports just loved watching their favorite team playing in national championship games.

“And the one game that probably stuck out to me the most was the first one I got a chance to watch. That was the game versus Texas in Pasadena, Mark Ingram Heisman year. That was the first time I got to see them play in a big game like that. And watching them dominate, that performance, it really stuck out to me.”
