Troy transfer tight end Brody Dalton committed to Alabama, his representatives told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He was one of the top tight ends available in the transfer portal.

Dalton spent two years at Troy and turned in the best season of his career in 2024. He hauled in 15 receptions for 188 yards and three touchdowns as a senior.

Dalton began his career at UAB, playing two seasons in Birmingham before heading to Troy. Because he only played in one game as a true freshman in 2021, he will have one year of eligibility remaining at Alabama.

Brody Dalton played high school football at Fyffe (Ala.) before arriving at Troy. Now, he’ll head to Alabama as the 11th commitment as part of the Crimson Tide’s transfer class.

Alabama just completed spring practice as Kalen DeBoer gets ready for his second season as head coach. The Crimson Tide just missed out on the College Football Playoff a year ago, finishing with a 9-4 overall record. The program is also preparing for a changing of the guard at quarterback as Jalen Milroe looks to hear his name called in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ty Simpson, Austin Mack and freshman Keelon Russell are vying for the job. Simpson has been with the program since 2022 while Mack transferred in last year from Washington, where he played for DeBoer, and Russell arrives as a highly touted recruit. He was a Five Star Plus+ prospect, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star. The Duncanville (TX) product was the No. 2 overall recruit from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

While speaking with reporters earlier this month, new Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb shared where things stand. He indicated Simpson was the leader in the clubhouse – but, of course, there’s still plenty left to figure out.

“If we’re playing a football game tomorrow, Ty Simpson would start,” Grubb said, via BOL’s Charlie Potter.
