Bryce Young breaks SEC Championship Game first-half passing record
The first half is in the books of the 2021 SEC Championship Game and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has been dealing some absolute dimes against the Georgia defense. The Crimson Tide were up 24-17 at halftime and that was thanks to a record setting performance from the unflappable Bryce Young.
His 286 passing yards in the first half are a new SEC Championship Game record, breaking the mark set by Cam Newton when he was at Auburn. Check out the play below where he eludes pressure from the Georgia defense and calmly pitches the football to the right, to his running back, Brian Robinson, Jr.
Not only that, the calm-headed Californian also rushed for 40 yards in the first half and had three touchdowns. A Georgia defense that has looked historic all season long all of a sudden doesn’t look so historic.

Young is blessed with an unflappable demeanor. There’s a reason he’s the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy, according to Vegas Insider. As a matter of fact, that first half performance might have locked up the coveted statue for Young.
Check out this epic rushing touchdown he had in the first half, too.
What an incredible half from an incredible, incredible prospect.
The first line of Young’s On3 personal bio on his On3 database profile reads: “Bryce Young was one of the most decorated high school quarterbacks coming out of Southern California in the last 25 years.” He’s lived up to that in his first year at Alabama, no question about that.
Bryce Young’s 2021 Campaign
Perhaps Young’s only blemish on his sparkling 2021 season was the Texas A&M game, and in that one he wasn’t helped much by his offensive line or receivers. The Auburn game certainly wasn’t pretty either, but he found the onions when his team needed them the most to deliver the come-from-behind stunner in four overtimes, 24-22. Certain players just don’t seem to panic, ever, and that’s been one of his best qualities throughout his football career, even dating back to his high school days at Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California).

In the third quarter of the SEC Championship Game, Young once again was dealing dimes. Check out this beautiful 55-yard touchdown bomb to Jameson Williams.
That touchdown put the Crimson Tide up 31-17 with 13:10 left in the third quarter. The game is still going on.
They might as well hand Young the Heisman now, because it’s hard to see anyone winning it, but him. He’s just a sophomore and has so much football ahead of him.
We’ll see if he can bring Alabama a College Football Playoff berth and possibly, a national title, to his ever-growing trophy case.
