After blasting the doors off Utah State in their season-opener, Alabama faces a tougher challenge in Week 2: visiting the Texas Longhorns. Now the Tide are still very heavy favorites, but the game does present new challenges for this year’s team of playing on the road and in such hot weather.

‘Bama quarterback Bryce Young spoke to media ahead of this week about Texas, addressing the Texas team, their environment and the expected weather. Here was him first on Texas’ sound coaching staff:

“Extremely well coached unit. You could tell that they they play together. Really athletic, really talented, and also really disciplined. They’re a really good group. They communicated really well. So again, that that shows how well-coached they are. So, you know, it’s an extremely talented group, very well-coached. We know the challenge that’s ahead of us. So we have to do all we can to prepare to try to put ourselves in the best circumstances.”

Then Bryce Young addressed questions about the environment the Crimson Tide will face in Austin.

“It’s a great opportunity for us. Again a storied program a great team. We know it’s going to be a very hostile environment. I think it’s a great opportunity for us, we know the challenge that presents. We have to be at our best. We have to do all we can throughout the week to prepare and put ourselves in the best circumstances. I think whenever we get opportunity like this, for us, it’s a it’s a great chance to try to step up to the plate. To try to grow and show who we are the team.”

Lastly, Bryce Young explained the process of hydration and preparation he and the rest of his teammates are going through to prepare for a scorching hot Saturday later this week. He’s extremely appreciative of the training staff that’s going the extra yard to keep the team in the proper condition leading up to the game.

“Our training staff and our nutrition staff, they’ve been doing a great job of providing us with salt packs, Pedialyte, sodium shots, whatever we may need to try to get this get us hydrated. And we have hydration tests that we take throughout the week that keeps us updated as well. So our our staff does an amazing job of making sure that we understand how important it is. We know it’s going to be hot. So it’s not something that you start the the day of the game or the night before. They’ve been emphasizing it us since we got here this morning to make sure that we’re hydrating throughout. And they they provide us with all the hydration we need. So all the credit goes to our staff, who’s been really making that a point of emphasis for us.”
