Alabama quarterback Bryce Young injured in game against Arkansas
No. 2 Alabama is out to an early lead against No. 20 Arkansas, but all eyes are now on the injury tent following a hit quarterback Bryce Young took on a third-down play early in the second quarter.
Young immediately went to the injury tent following the third-down play, which came up incomplete and forced Alabama to punt.
He threw his helmet down on the sideline before heading into the tent. It’s unclear what happened to Young, who didn’t appear to be hit on the play, but the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner immediately looked to be in pain.
“As he let go, he doesn’t touch anything,” CBS broadcaster Brad Nessler said. “But the grimace on his face tells the story and (he is) hanging that right arm. Pointed at his shoulder.”
As CBS showed replays of the play, fellow broadcaster Gary Danielson also chimed in:
“It’s almost as if his shoulder popped out or something. He’s holding it like he’s got a dead shoulder, doesn’t he?
“The prior series on the scramble on third down when Drew Sanders hit him, he throws the ball at the last second. As he extends his arm, he lands on it. Right at the end he’ll grab his shoulder. Ness, I tore my rotator cuff on a play exactly like that. Extending my arm and landed on an extended arm. You don’t know it’s hurt until you throw the next throw. Let’s pray that’s not the case.”
CBS followed up moments later with an update from sideline reporter Jenny Dell.
“He was trying to run to the locker room and the trainers actually stopped him and brought him inside the injury tent,” Dell said. “I heard a very, very extreme yell coming from him as he was throwing down his helmet.”

With Bryce Young injured, Alabama turns to Jalen Milroe
With Bryce Young injured and receiving treatment from trainers, the Crimson Tide turned to backup quarterback Jalen Milroe in the contest.
The Crimson Tide added a quick touchdown after a 45-yard punt return from Kool-Aid McKinstry set Alabama up inside the red zone midway through the second quarter.
Milroe scored on a 3-yard touchdown run to cap the drive, giving Alabama a 21-0 lead with 8:29 left to play in the second quarter.
A former four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, Milroe was ranked as the No. 90 overall player in the country in his class. He checked in as the No. 13 quarterback in the class according to the On3 Consensus recruiting rankings.
