Bryce Young responds to Georgia players calling him 'gingerbread man'

Georgia players have come up with a clever nickname for Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. Because of the quarterback’s ability to evade tackles in the backfield, the Bulldogs have referred to him as the “gingerbread man.”
Upon discovering the nickname, Young offered his thoughts.
“I hadn’t heard that until now,” he said. “But I guess it’s a compliment. But that is stuff you can’t control. We know how good that front seven is. We have a ton of respect for them, that entire defense. We understand the challenge that’s at hand. There’s a respect factor there. So we have respect. It’s just on us to prepare during the week to put ourselves in the best position to be successful and execute when the time comes.”
Young has certainly made things difficult for opposing defenses this season. He has been sacked on just 6.4% of his passing attempts and led the SEC in passing touchdowns (46). His impressive performance earned him a trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony, where he became the first Alabama quarterback to claim the award.
Georgia knows all too well how difficult it is to slow down Bryce Young. In a 41-24 loss to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship, the Bulldogs failed to record a sack against the sophomore. This is despite averaging 3.2 sacks per game this season.

As a result, Young shined in that game to finish with 421 yards passing and four total touchdowns. The Bulldogs will hope for a different result the second time around, looking to key in more on the quarterback.
Georgia has more than just this year’s loss to the Tide to seek revenge for, however. The schools have met three times for conference championships since 2012, with Alabama winning every time. Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart is 0-4 against them in his career, including a loss in the 2017 national championship.
Kickoff for this year’s title game is set for 8 p.m. ET on Monday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bryce Young and Alabama enter the game as a 1-point favorite against Georgia, according to Vegas Insider.
