New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was once teammates with Bryce Young when the two of them played together at Alabama. Now, Jones is doing what he can to help Young get ready for the NFL Draft.

As Young explained, Jones has been giving him advice on how to handle the NFL Combine and preparing for the draft in general.

“I’ve talked to a good amount of guys,” Bryce Young. “I’ve tried to prepare myself as much as I can for the next level and for this process.”

“Specifically, I was talking to Mac earlier this week and he gave me a lot of great advice about kind of just how to carry yourself. Things that he’s learned in his years there. A lot of things that I’m gonna take and hold onto. I’m super grateful for the guidance I’ve gotten from him on top of many other NFL players.”

Bryce Young was Mac Jones’ backup at Alabama during the team’s last national championship season. Clearly, they still have a good relationship from that time. However, it’s highly unlikely they find themselves roaming the same sidelines at the NFL level.

Bryce Young on his size

The biggest knock against Bryce Young is his size. There’s no way around that and at the NFL Combine, he defended himself against this criticism.

“I’ve been this size, respectfully, my whole life,” Young explained. “I know who I am, and I know what I can do. For me, it’s fair — everyone can speculate and ask whatever questions are necessary. I’m going to continue to control what I can control.”
