With the season winding down, the conversations surrounding entries into the 2023 NFL Draft have begun. College football’s star prospects are planning out their decisions, how it will affect their postseasons, and choosing where they’ll be playing their football next season. Amongst those top prospects is Alabama QB Bryce Young who, today, said no decision has been made yet.

During his press conference on Monday afternoon, Young was asked if this weekend’s Iron Bowl would be his final appearance in a Crimson Tide uniform. He answered by saying that, in general, he takes his life a step at a time. As of now, a draft decision is not his next step. Defeating Auburn is.

“I haven’t as far as anything in my future,” said Young. “I take everything one day at a time. All I’ve been focused on throughout the year has been the next opponent and, obviously, this is a huge game…All I think about is today. How can I be the best version of myself today to get ready to put myself in the best circumstances? How we as a team can do that? That’s all my head’s focused on.”

The reigning Heisman winner will, barring any surprises, be one of the first players, let alone quarterbacks, taken in the draft if he chose that route. Young’s numbers have fallen off from during his 2021 campaign. Still, his 2,664 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 64.8% completion rate this year are nothing to sneeze at.

It appears the state of Alabama will have to wait until after the Iron Bowl before having an idea of whether or not Young will be back again. From there, it’s on Young to decide whether his next appearance will be in a bowl game or the NFL.
