Carrollton (Ga.) four-star tight end Caleb Odom told On3’s Chad Simmons on Wednesday that intends to announce his college commitment July 15 with On3’s YouTube channel.

He will choose between finalists Alabama, Ole Miss, Miami, Florida and Texas A&M.

“I feel like these five schools have definitely been recruiting me the longest and the hardest,” he said. “They’ve showed me the most love, and I’ve built the best relationships with their coaches. It was the best five schools for my interest.”

However, just a few weeks out from decision day, Alabama is trending heavily in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). After expert predictions from national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman and OMSpirit.com’s Zach Berry, Alabama holds an 88.2 percent chance of securing Odom’s commitment.

Odom told Simmons that he has an idea of where each school stands, but will take the next few weeks to assess each program and then announce his choice.

“I’m going to still be deciding over these next couple of weeks, but I have somewhat of an idea of who it could be. I just want to go to a place where I feel the most at home, where coaches are working their butts off and where everyone is pouring into you and trying to get you better. I want to go the place with the best people and a place where I can get on the field early.”

Odom is coming off a number of official visits

Early last month, Odom named his top seven schools, which included four of his current finalists. He officially visited Miami, Auburn, Florida and Alabama during the month of June, and the Crimson Tide made a strong impression on him.

“When I first got up there I would say that I was expecting a lot from them with it being Bama,” Odom told Simmons. “As the weekend passed, I realized that everything felt right and a lot of relationships were built. I was able to build my relationship with Coach Cox and Coach Rees while also spending time with Coach Saban.

… They do a lot for individuals on the teams and make sure everything is straight. The town felt right and I spent time with the players and got to see their relationships with each other. It pushed it even further.”

Odom went so far as to name the Crimson Tide as his top school at that point.

“Alabama made it tough and I’ll leave it at that.”
