Cameron Latu has brilliant response regarding what Alabama does for fun
Between games, practices and classes, it’s important for college athletes to find something to do in the down time. But what happens when you’re Alabama, the No. 1 in the country?
Crimson Tide tight end Cameron Latu shared some insight this week, and he gave an amazing answer.
Latu was asked how players pass time in the hotel when they’re not worrying about football. Well, as it turns out, they continue to think about football.
“Recovery, watching film, and just bonding as a team,” Latu said. “That’s all we’re doing, just getting ready for the game.”
No, seriously. What do they do for fun?
“Getting ready to win,” Latu said. “That’s fun.”
Talk about being all business.
After a few questions, Latu ended up talking about how the players let off steam. It turns out they do more than watch film all night.
“We are really around the hotel,” Latu said. “So playing a game or just chilling, watching film, or getting recovery in, get some treatment. It’s a time for us to really bond with the team, us just being here a lot and being able to spend time with each other some more. Yeah, that’s really all we do.”
Alabama is getting ready to take on No. 4 Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl on Friday as part of the College Football Playoff.

Nick Saban gives update on Alabama following Tuesday practice
Alabama football held practice inside AT&T Stadium Tuesday, working on the playing surface where it will take on Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Despite no Cotton Bowl media viewing – which was originally planned – the Crimson Tide provided some footage from the day along with post-practice quotes from Nick Saban.
During his opening statement, the Alabama coach expressed his thoughts on the state of his team and the challenges they face over the coming days in Dallas.
“I think we’ve done well,” said Saban. “We had good practices at home, we had three days off for Christmas – a lot of travel in between getting here – but everything’s been really well done since we’ve been here. I think you guys have provided us with a great atmosphere and environment to work in and the players have stayed focused pretty well. We’re trying to keep everybody healthy on and off the field relative of what’s happening. But the energy level has been good, the players have been good.”
Saban has spoke highly about his players commitment levels and vaccination status since early in the season, which could prove important for the Cotton Bowl with the recent outbreaks across sports and the College Football Playoff’s forfeit rules in place. The Alabama program has suffered limited disruptions due to COVID-19 this season but had a recent scare within the coaching staff.
