Sarasota (Fla.) Riverview five-star cornerback Charles Lester III recently told Joseph Hastings of BamaInsider that he is focusing on four schools. One of those programs is Alabama.

Lester III spent Thursday on an unofficial visit to the Crimson Tide. Alabama is competing with GeorgiaFlorida State and Ohio State for the 6-foot-2, 171-pound defensive back.

“I’ve been to ‘Bama a couple times, so I just want the next couple times I go there to keep bonding more than anything,” Lester III said to Hastings. “I’ve toured the facilities and did most of the recruiting already. So going forward, I just want to build that relationship with the coaches.”

The Crimson Tide do not currently have any cornerback commits in their 2024 recruiting class. However, Alabama’s group is No. 3 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 2 in the SEC.

In addition to Lester III, the Crimson Tide are also recruiting Waco (Texas) Connally five-star cornerback, Kobe Black, the No. 3 player at his position in the On3 Industry Ranking. Alabama made his top 11 schools.

Right now, the Crimson Tide’s class is led by two five-star pledges: Carlsbad (Calif.) Julian Sayin and Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville athlete Jaylen Mbakwe.

Lester III is gradually moving towards a decision

Lester III has not scheduled an official visit to Tuscaloosa yet, but has officials locked in to his other three contenders. He will be at Georgia on the weekend of June 9, Ohio State on the weekend of June 16 and Florida State on the weekend of June 23.

“I’m just taking my time with it. I’m not rushing anything,” said Lester III, the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 cornerback in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “I’ve been cutting some schools down, and it’s been hard with certain schools. I’ve been there (to visit) at these four I’m looking at it, and now it’s just building a bond and seeing where I want to spend my next three to four years.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Seminoles have a commanding lead for Lester III’s commitment at 92.4%. He has already been to Tallahassee multiple times this year.

“Every time I step on the campus, it just means the world to me,” Lester III told Michael Langston of Warchant on March 10. “I (brought) my bags today. I don’t want to go home.”
