Cliff Omoruyi injury: Alabama big man heads to locker room following concerning fall
As a top 10 battle takes place in Reed Arena, the Alabama Crimson Tide now have an injury to deal with. Center Cliff Omoruyi took an awkward fall when fighting for a rebound, seemingly twisting his ankle. Omoruyi stayed on the ground as his teammates raced to the other end with a whistle eventually being blown.
Alabama trainers had to end onto the court and help Omoruyi get to his feet. There was no stop at the bench, though. Omoruyi immediately went into the locker room, presumably to get his ankle checked out and determine if he could finish this game against Texas A&M.
“Cliff Omoruyi stays down on the court and needs help to the Tide bench,” Charlie Potter of On3’s BOL said via X. “He’s not putting pressure on his right leg as he heads to the visiting locker room.”
UPDATE: Shortly after entering the locker room, Omoruyi checked back into the game. The under-16 media timeout was then taken from College Station. Everyone with the Crimson Tide will be hoping a serious crisis has been averted.
Unfortunately, this is not the first big-man injury we have seen in the SEC from Saturday. Auburn star Johni Broome went out with an ankle injury of his own, not able to return against South Carolina. Folks on the Plains await news of the National Player of the Year front-runner as Broome potentially missing a good bit of time.

Hopefully, Omoruyi is not the second center in the league to go down on the same day.
Omoruyi was a big-time offseason pickup for Nate Oats via the NCAA transfer portal. Despite making a run to the Final Four, Alabama was missing a true center on its roster throughout the season. Getting somebody like Omoruyi was a big boost to the 2024-2025 roster.
Entering Saturday night, Omoruyi is averaging 7.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. His presence is certainly being felt against Texas A&M as Alabama is finding success on the glass, specifically on the offensive end.
If Alabama has to play without him for the remainder of this game, Oats will have multiple options with his lineup. Freshman Aiden Sherrell is the backup center but players such as Grant Nelson and even Mo Diabate are capable of playing the position.
