Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer had an update on receiver Cole Adams after he left with a right leg injury in the first quarter Saturday against Missouri. Unfortunately, it wasn’t one that Crimson Tide fans will want to hear.

DeBoer revealed after the 34-0 victory that Adams is expected to miss “a little bit of time,” but added that the team will have more information Monday after he undergoes testing.

“Lower extremity,” he said. “We’ll need to do some more evaluation, but it feels like it’s going to be something that might be a little bit of time where he’ll be missed. We’ll probably have more on Monday with that, but that’s what it feels like right now.”

Adams suffered the injury while attempting to make a block on a Missouri defender. He had to be carted to the locker room as he struggled to put weight on his injury leg. He was later seen wearing a boot and using crutches.

The redshirt freshman was a four-star recruit in the 2023 class out of Owasso (OK) High School. He had appeared in seven games this season to record six catches for 94 yards. Adams is also the primary punt returner for the Crimson Tide with 11 returns for 58 yards this season.

It appears as if Alabama will have to play without Adams moving forward, at least for a few games. Freshman defensive back Jaylen Mbakwe has been back there returning punts already while other receivers will now get in the rotation.

The Crimson Tide will have a bye this upcoming week after improving to 6-2 (3-2 SEC) with the win against Missouri. That will give them some extra time to decide how they want to replace Adams before a Week 11 road matchup against No. 8 LSU.
