Alabama Compensation Committee to vote on contracts of multiple head coaches, assistants
As the 2022-2023 athletics calendar comes to a close, programs are beginning to look to next season. Alabama had a few changes to make across their programs over the past few months, with baseball getting a new head coach in Rob Vaughn. Nate Oats welcomed two new assistants onto staff as well, with one spot still vacant.
To this point, those contracts have not been approved by the Alabama Compensation Committee. Tuesday, that will change, as they are expected to vote — and most likely approve — every single move. A few contract extensions are on tap too for multiple head coaches and a handful of assistants.

New baseball head coach Rob Vaughn to have contract approved
Of the new faces heading to Tuscaloosa, Vaughn will have the biggest headline surrounding his name. Athletic director Greg Byrne was able to hire him away from the Big Ten, with Vaughn previously being at Maryland. A huge hire for the baseball program, especially off their run in the NCAA Tournament.

While he is not getting a new contract, former interim head coach Jason Jackson is expected to stay with Alabama. He was previously the pitching coach and should return to his duties under Vaughn. His run to a Super Regional will not be one those in Tuscaloosa forget about anytime soon.
Alabama men’s basketball hiring two new assistants
Oats is going through something many basketball head coaches do not have to. All three of his assistants have left in favor of taking over their own program. While Oats will be happy for everyone’s career progression, it’s an unusual situation for sure.
Just two replacements have been named, with Austin Claunch coming via Nicholls State and Ryan Pannoe formerly being in the NBA. Two guys who are expected to keep the momentum rolling for the men’s basketball program. Although, we are still waiting for the third to be named, maybe sometime in the near future.
