Alabama is up at SEC Media Days, with Nick Saban‘s squad taking over Nashville. One of the players representing the program is cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry, being one of the veteran players on the defensive end for the Crimson Tide. He is expected to answer questions about his new coaches and teammates and is going to look good doing so.

McKinstry showed up in a nice suit on Wednesday morning, deciding to rock a bow tie. He also had an incredible chain around his neck, dawning his on-field jersey No. 1. The ‘Kool-Aid Man’ was also present on the chain, with the defensive back really playing into his nickname.

There have been some awesome fashion choices at Media Days throughout the years. However, having one this personal is pretty cool to see from McKinstry.

You can check out McKinstry’s chain here.

McKinstry has quite literally cashed in on the ‘Kool-Aid’ nickname in the past. He signed a NIL deal with the brand back in August 2021 before his freshman season at Alabama. They swapped Twitter bios, promoting one another through social media.

Now, he gets to wear the ‘Kool-Aid Man’ chain in front of the entire press at SEC Media Days. Another great example of a player being able to do a unique thing with NIL.

Kool-Aid McKinstry to lead Alabama secondary in 2023

There is a reason McKinstry was selected by Nick Saban to represent Alabama in Nashville. He is expected to be a real leader for the secondary this upcoming season. McKinstry is locked in to be a starting cornerback, his second full season doing so.

Terrion Arnold is expected to play on the other side of McKinstry, the same as it was a season ago. Although, there were some shaky moments for Arnold.

Malachi Moore will step in at safety and maybe even STAR, proving to be the only other real experienced player in the backend of the defense. Two new DBs are expected to step onto the field, with freshman Caleb Downs being the big name.

If new defensive coordinator Kevin Steele can count on anybody, it will be headlined by McKinstry. He has the chance to be just the latest defensive back to really impress during his time at Alabama. And once the 2023 season ends, the NFL Draft will certainly come calling — a place where McKinstry is already projected to be a first-round pick.
