Dallas Turner defines rat poison, explains how much more Alabama heard this season

In recent years, the term “rat poison” has become a popular one around Tuscaloosa. It’s a term that star Alabama Crimson Tide edge rusher Dallas Turner knows well and knows the value of understanding.
Ahead of the College Football Playoff, Turner explained that rat poison is something found on social media that’s being said but isn’t true and can become a distraction.
“It just means social media can be a very bad factor,” Dallas Turner said. “Social media nowadays, we call it rat poison because a lot of people like to put a lot of things out on social media that aren’t always true, and that just is something that you shouldn’t be paying attention to. I feel like the term ‘rat poison’ just shows that social media can be a very big distraction.”
A lot of times, the term has been misunderstood to imply it only means good things being said about a team are rat poison. Because of that confusion, it’s easy to see why some people might think there was less rat poison this season, given Alabama’s early struggles. However, Dallas Turner emphasized this wasn’t the case.
“I feel like this season probably was the most rat poison because ever since you saw that first (indiscernible) the team, but just coming up until now and being able to play in the Rose Bowl, rat poison is still there, of course, but I feel like we definitely had more rat poison this season than the past couple of season.”

The feeling that, after the Texas loss and the near USF upset, less was expected of Alabama was something that Dallas Turner latched onto and has used as motivation. Now, the Crimson Tide are in the Playoff.
“I feel like a lot of people tried to write us off, but we did it right back. It’s a lot of motivation.”
Jim Nagy details what makes Dallas Turner a special prospect
Jim Nagy, the Senior Bowl EVP, recently broke down what he thinks makes Dallas Turner such a special NFL prospect.
“I would say the athlete,” Nagy said during Thursday’s episode of Andy Staples On3. “When you’re doing Will Anderson for last year’s draft, you kept seeing 15 on the other side. It was just the get-off, the bend… Athletically, some of the movement stuff, some of the counter stuff that he’s going to be capable of — Dallas Turner is just a really high-end athlete.”
