Dallas Turner reveals Alabama's mindset entering revenge game vs. LSU
Last year’s loss against LSU is a tough one for Alabama fans to forget. The Crimson Tide kicked a field goal as time expired to force overtime, but ultimately lost as the Tigers completed a gutsy two-point conversion call to escape 32-31.
Now with this season’s matchup less than two weeks away, an opportunity for revenge awaits. Linebacker Dallas Turner joined The Paul Finebaum Show on Wednesday, where he was asked how much that factors into the motivation to get the win against LSU this year.
He realizes plenty of mistakes were made down the stretch of that contest, and Alabama is determined to make sure that doesn’t happen again this year.
“It’s always been about us as a team and what we do,” he said. “We’ve just gotta be more disciplined, especially from last game and stuff like that. We’re never worried about the other team. It’s always about what we do during practice. Our practice habits and what we do on the field. Just keep playing for all 60 minutes.”
The winner between Alabama and LSU has gone on to represent the SEC West in the conference title game each of the past five seasons. Given how this year’s standings look right now that could again be the case.

Debating College Football Playoff selections
Alabama currently is the only undefeated team in the West and would have a clear path to the title game if it wins this game. Things would get trickier if the Tigers won, as it would set up a three-way tie for first place with Ole Miss being the third team. The Rebels beat LSU but lost to Alabama already this season, so a tiebreaker would be needed, assuming all teams finish with one loss.
However, Turner and Alabama will try to ensure that isn’t even a scenario that comes into play. So far, the Crimson Tide defense has been one of the top in the conference, with Turner leading the team with seven sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss.
He’ll hope to get a handle on LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who last season, threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 95 more and a score. The Tigers have so far been the top scoring team in the SEC with 47.4 points per game, but Alabama ranks second in points allowed per game (16.5).
That sets up an interesting clash for what is the biggest remaining test on the Crimson Tide’s schedule. They’ll hope to come prepared to pass it when they kick off against LSU on Nov. 4, with the kick time still yet to be announced.
