The expectations are high for Alabama EDGE Dallas Turner to replace two-time unanimous All-American Will Anderson as the Crimson Tide’s top pass rusher. But it’s not just the on-the-field role Turner is going to step into this season.

There is also a leadership role to take over as well, and Turner is embracing that opportunity as well.

“I just try to be a great teammate to my teammates every day,” Turner said on SEC This Morning on Wednesday prior to the start of SEC Media Days that day. “I just try to be a great person on and off the field to my teammates. Just try and be there and lead by example. Just try to motivate my guys every day to work hard and stay consistent.”

Over the first 28 games of his career, Turner has 67 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was second on the team last year in sacks, second in quarterback hurries and tied for third in tackles for loss.

For the past decade, Alabama has been the favorite pretty much every year to win the SEC West. But this year, LSU is getting a lot of noise about winning the division.

But Turner said the team isn’t focused on the outside noise.

“Every day we just go in and go out and work hard,” Turner said. “We are our own motivation.”
