Domani Jackson injury update: Kalen DeBoer squashes concerns over Alabama DB
Alabama cornerback Domani Jackson was injured in the second quarter of Saturday’s contest against South Carolina, checked out in the injury tent and then eventually carted off the field toward the locker room.
He would later return in the second half, albeit playing sparingly. Coach Kalen DeBoer opened up on his status after the game.
“Yeah I think he’ll be fine,” DeBoer said. “Obviously he was back out there, so the guy wants to go out there. He’s had a great season so far. He’s someone we’ve got a lot of confidence in and we wanted to just use him at the right times, the right moments in the second half when those times came up.”
Domani Jackson certainly showed up when it counted in the second half.
South Carolina had a chance to go win the game in the final minute of play, trailing 27-25 with the ball around midfield. Then quarterback LaNorris Sellers took a deep shot.
Jackson read the play perfectly and got under it, picking off the pass and returning it 38 yards to kill some clock and effectively end the game.

“Again, finding a way to pull it down and concentrate on the ball, kind of most people look at it as an easy pick but you’ve still got to be there and you’ve still got to make the play,” DeBoer said. “Definitely proud of the fight that he had in wanting to be back out there considering he did go down earlier in the game.”
Domani Jackson finished the game with three tackles, an interception and a pass breakup. He also helped preserve a win for Alabama that was far from guaranteed down the stretch.
The good news? It doesn’t sound like his injury will be something that lingers, based on DeBoer’s comments after the game and the fact that he was able to suit up in the second half.
On the season, Domani Jackson has logged 21 tackles, two interceptions and four pass breakups.
