Domani Jackson injury update: Latest on Alabama DB after being carted off vs. South Carolina
Alabama cornerback Domani Jackson left the game against South Carolina with an injury in the first half, carted to the locker room after checking into the injury tent briefly.
But there’s good news for Alabama, as the injury won’t end Jackson’s day.
“Got word, good news for Alabama,” ABC sideline reporter Katie George said. “I just got word Jackson is available to return. He’s got his helmet on, he’s standing on the sidelines waiting for his moment to run in.”
Domani Jackson sat the first few plays of the second half out, with Jaylen Mbakwe playing in his place during the opening drive of the second half. Jackson, though, as noted, looked ready to enter at a moment’s notice.
South Carolina scored on its opening drive, though Domani Jackson did eventually check back in during the second half. The Gamecocks took a 19-14 lead in the contest and ran more than half the third quarter off the clock with the opening possession.
Halftime swing gets South Carolina back in game
Alabama led South Carolina 14-0 before a wild finish to the half saw the Gamecocks put 12 points on the board to claw back into the contest in Tuscaloosa.

Most of the mistakes were on Alabama’s end, self-inflicted wounds that led to South Carolina taking advantage.
First it was surrendering a 36-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-9, then a forced safety on a mistake by quarterback Jalen Milroe, then a Milroe interception that led to a last-second field goal. Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer explained staying aggressive offensively, which backfired before the half.
“Yeah, I mean just I trust our guys. I want to attack,” DeBoer told George. “We’re going to play aggressive, try to be calculated in it. Obviously they’re an opportunistic defense and made a nice play there, but we’ve got to be smarter in a couple situations.”
