The Alabama Crimson Tide appear to have taken another hit in the wide receiver room. On Alabama’s online football roster, wide receiver Agiye Hall is no longer listed, Charlie Potter of 247Sports’ BamaOnline reported on Tuesday morning. Bama Insider reports that Hall is no longer with the program.

Hall just wrapped up his first season at Alabama. He came to Tuscaloosa as a four-star wideout and the fourth-ranked wide receiver in the 2021 recruiting class according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average.

With Hall no longer on the roster, Alabama will need to find a way to replicate a lot of lost talent on offense. At receiver, Jameson Williams, John Metchie, and Slade Bolden have all entered the 2022 NFL Draft. Hall was a candidate for more involvement in the offense this season, but it now appears that won’t be the case.

As a freshman last season, Hall caught four passes for 72 yards, averaging 18 yards per reception.

Following reports of Hall no longer being on Alabama’s roster, he went to Twitter to give a surprising reaction to the news. Apparently, he wasn’t aware of the fact that he wasn’t on the roster anymore.

Nick Saban previously praised Hall for his development in first year at Alabama

Two of Hall’s receptions as a freshman came in the National Championship game against Georgia, going for 52 yards. Over the course of the season, Alabama head coach Nick Saban was pleased with the progression he saw from Hall.

“In the last, I don’t know, all these bowl practices, starting with the SEC Championship game, Agiye has started to develop confidence, and he has a lot of ability,” Saban said. “And he started to develop confidence in knowing what to do, knowing how to do it, knowing why it’s important to do it that way.”

Now, Alabama appears to be moving forward without Hall as part of its plans. The Crimson Tide must now develop more targets on offense for star quarterback Bryce Young. Georgia transfer Jermaine Burton is in line for heavy involvement in the passing game, while young wideouts Ja’Corey Brooks, JoJo Earle, and others such as Traeshon Holden are likely poised for bigger roles next season.

The spring just got even more important for the development in Alabama’s wide receiver room.

“We have a responsibility and obligation to play the best players, but we also have a responsibility and obligation not to put players on the field who are not going to be productive because they don’t know what to do, or not confident in how to do it and why it’s important to do it that way,” Saban said. “That’s all part of a young player’s development.”
