Recent Alabama transfer and starting center for the 2023 Crimson Tide team, Seth McLaughlin, has released a statement following his decision to leave.

You can view it as part of his tweet right here:

Despite the less-than-ideal season and ending to it in the Rose Bowl semifinal matchup vs. Michigan, McLaughlin has nothing but appreciation for coach Nick Saban and his time in Tuscaloosa.

McLaughlin was an every-down starter for the Crimson Tide in 2023, though he became the focus of some negative attention in the College Football Playoff when he struggled snapping the football.

Still, he’s a player that will offer whatever school chooses him out of the transfer portal an experienced OL who started 25 games over the course of the last three seasons for the Crimson Tide, emerging as a steady presence on the interior of the offensive line. Heck, some team could just move him to guard and get rid of the snapping issue altogether.

Prior to enrolling at Alabama, McLaughlin was a three-star prospect and the No. 441 overall recruit in the nation in the 2020 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He checked in as the No. 24 interior offensive lineman in the class and the No. 46 overall player from the state of Georgia, hailing from Buford (GA) Buford.
