A former Alabama running back is headed back to his home state. According to On3’s Matt Zenitz, Kyle Edwards will suit up for Southeastern Louisiana in 2022.

“Ex-Alabama running back Kyle Edwards will transfer to Southeastern Louisiana,” revealed Zenitz. “Edwards, a former four-star recruit from Destrehan, La., was part of the Crimson Tide’s 2020 recruiting class.

A native of Destrehan, Louisiana, Edwards is looking to make an impact on the college football level in his home state. Once a four-star recruit on his way to Alabama, Edwards never played a snap for the Crimson Tide.

Originally, Edwards chose Alabama over programs like LSU, Michigan and Penn State. However, he entered the transfer portal in June of 2021. After not finding the right fit for this season, the Southeastern Louisiana Lions will have now have his services.

It’s been a tough start to his college football career, but Kyle Edwards will hope to rebuild his career with a new program.

More on Alabama Crimson Tide, transfer portal

While Alabama has been gifted many athletes through the transfer portal, the Crimson Tide have also seen their fair-share of exits. For every Jameson Williams and Henry To’o To’o, there’s a Kyle Edwards.

After losing the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship, Alabama lost a bevy of talent. Some to the 2022 NFL Draft, some to the transfer portal.

First, linebacker Drew Sanders announced he was entering the transfer portal. After deciding to continue to his career away from Tuscaloosa, Sanders took his talents to Arkansas.

Additionally, tight end Jahleel Billingsley chose to transfer to Texas over returning to Alabama. With former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian leading the Longhorns, Billingsley chose to take his talents to his program.

Moreover, quarterbacks Paul Tyson and Stone Hollenbach also decided to jet. Unfortunately for the young athletes, Bryce Young was there as a road block for their careers.

As you can see, Alabama has been dealing with the transfer portal just like every team has. Fortunately for the Crimson Tide, Nick Saban will get his fair-share of players that want to transfer into Alabama, as well.
