Brandon Miller reveals key to playing through foul trouble
Brandon Miller was the best player at the SEC Tournament, winning MVP after Alabama knocked off Texas A&M in the championship game. He finished with double-doubles in the final two games in Nashville and simply dominated at times. While the NCAA Tournament No. 1 overall seed has a stacked roster, Miller is clearly above the rest.
Only one problem found Miller on the court, as the freshman found himself getting into foul trouble against Missouri and Texas A&M. Miller got three quick ones in both games and found a way to finish at that number. Head coach Nate Oats was not shy to keep him in games.
Miller talked about the title game specifically, talking about the two charges Texas A&M was able to draw. Even though Alabama knew they were coming, Miller was not able to avoid the foul calls. He then credited his teammates for helping the rest of the way.
“We noticed that we prepared knowing they would be a charge team, they slide up and take a lot of charges,” Miller said. “Kind of got out and got two early. Had to lean on my teammates. Feel like they did a good job of pushing me through all the whole game.”

With Miller having the ball in his hands more often, teams are going to be looking to take more charges against him in the NCAA Tournament. While he has played well in foul trouble, that’s not something Alabama is going to want to continue moving forward.

At the very least, the experience is there for the freshman.
Nate Oats reveals injury to Brandon Miller ahead of NCAA Tournament
For the first time in school history, Alabama is the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Off the backs of winning the SEC regular season and tournament championship, Nate Oats has his team in position to compete for a national championship. However, there was an injury concern along the way for the Crimson Tide.
Oats revealed Miller played through a groin injury this past week. The performances from Miller in Nashville were still incredible, with his head coach giving out credit for toughing it out. Still, it’s something to watch for as Alabama prepares for the big dance.
“He was playing with a hurt groin, too,” Oats said via “Hey Coach” on Monday. “It kind of showed how tough he was to be able to play through injuries.”
