A day after decommitting from Clemson, four-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy EDGE Jihaad Campbell is visiting Alabama.

Crimson Tide five-star commit Jeremiah Alexander shared a photo of him, Campbell and Alabama head coach Nick Saban together on Friday night.

Campbell is the No. 54 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 4 EDGE and the No. 9 prospect in Florida.

On3’s rankings are a bit higher on him, pegging him as the No. 29 overall player and No. 3 EDGE nationally.

After committing to the Tigers back in June, Campbell appeared set to sign with Clemson in the upcoming early signing period. But Oklahoma hiring away Tigers’ defensive coordinator Brent Venables opened the door for a decommitment, and he announced it yesterday with On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

He chose Clemson over Georgia, Florida and Ohio State the first time. Now, it appears that if those schools want to get involved again, they’ll also have to fight off the Crimson Tide.

Jihaad Campbell Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following scouting summary on Campbell as a prospect:

Highly athletic, versatile edge defender who is an impact player on the most talented defense in high school football. Pairs high-end athleticism with positional versatility. Among the more athletic players on IMG Academy’s roster, clocking an electronically-timed 4.52 second 40-yard dash prior to his senior season. Plays as a rushing linebacker for IMG and has made the most splash plays on a defense that is two-deep with blue-chip prospects. Consistently wins as a pass rusher off the edge due to his first-step quickness and bend. Also has the ability to drop into space and play in coverage. Previously played off-the-ball at his high school in New Jersey, prior to transferring to IMG. Plays with high-energy both in practices and in games. Always shows up to compete, regardless of the setting. Will need to fill out his 6-foot-3, 210 pound frame to be a full-time EDGE at the next level.
