Four-Star WR Jalen Hale committed to Alabama over Georgia, Texas, and Texas A&M last September.

Four-star wide receiver Jalen Hale of Longview (TX) High announced his commitment to Alabama Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 185 pounder chose the Crimson Tide over Texas, Georgia, and Texas A&M.

Hale on why he chose Alabama

“The relationship I built with all the coaches stood out,” Hale said. “I see myself being the right fit in the offense and the way they use wide receivers caught my eye most definitely. In the end, it just felt like home.”

Alabama’s track record of producing WRs stood out + their plan for Jalen Hale

“That played a big part,” Hale said. “They put wide receivers in the league and I like how they’re used in the offense. Alabama plans on using me as an outside wide receiver, but they are going to move me all around. I’ll be a deep threat.”

The Lone Star state wide receiver joins coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide’s No. 1 class in the 2023 team rankings. He is accompanied by Caleb Downs, Tony Mitchell, and others.

Jalen Hale Scouting Summary

“Productive receiver for one of the top high school programs in Texas,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Excels at the catch point. Was the first freshman to start on varsity back in 2019 for East Texas powerhouse Longview high school since the early 2000’s. Totaled 50 catches for 1,154 yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior season. Does much of his damage out of the slot at Longview. Checks in at 6-foot-0.5, 185 pounds with a 32.5 inch arm. Has natural explosion and ability to go up and high point the football. A starter for the basketball team. Needs some refinement in his route running and sinking at the top of his routes, which should come with collegiate coaching. Has upside to be a difference-maker at the college level, but will need to refine his game.”

Hale currently ranks as the No. 53 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. He also tabs in as the No. 10 wide receiver and the No. 10 player in the state of Texas.
