Grant Nelson injury update: Alabama star's status revealed for Mississippi State game

Alabama forward Grant Nelson is listed as probable for Tuesday evening’s game against Mississippi State, according to the SEC injury report. He is a starter for the Crimson Tide averaging 12.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Nelson has not missed a game all season, so his appearance on the injury report is somewhat concerning. That said, while he might be a bit banged up, it isn’t likely to keep him out against the Bulldogs.
The senior is coming off of a rough outing against Kentucky on Saturday, playing only 15 minutes due to foul trouble and finishing with five points and three rebounds. He is in his second season at Alabama after transferring from North Dakota State ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The Crimson Tide defeated the Wildcats over the weekend to snap a two-game losing streak. Mark Sears led the scoring effort in that one to finish with 30 points on 8-of-17 shooting along with four assists and four rebounds.
With four games remaining in the regular season, Alabama is still in contention to get a No. 1 seed. That in mind, it will need a healthy Nelson down the stretch as it will take on a top 25 opponent in every game from here on out.

Derrion Reid injury update: Nate Oats reveals Alabama forward’s status for Mississippi State game
Grant Nelson isn’t the only Alabama player dealing with injury, as F Derrion Reid will be out again this week despite getting positive feedback on the injury to his hamstring.
Nate Oats began his press conference on Monday with an update on Reid. He said that Reid went up to Birmingham to get an evaluation on his right leg but will still be out come tip-off tomorrow for the Crimson Tide in another ranked matchup with this one against No. 24 Mississippi State.
“So, uh, just to answer before it gets asked, Derrion went up to Birmingham, got evaluated by Doctor Cain on his leg,” said Oats. “Not going to go tomorrow. So, he’s out but they thought he looked good so he’s coming along.”
