Nick Saban adds more color on Bryce Young injury, explains why he did not re-enter Arkansas game
The story of the day in college football came out of Fayetteville, with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young leaving the game with an injury. Thankfully, the Crimson Tide were able to hold on for a win over Arkansas and improve to 5-0 on the season. But they are still in the thick of an SEC schedule, with Texas A&M up next.
After the game, head coach Nick Saban provided some more color on Young’s injury, saying it’s an AC sprain. The quarterback will be “day-to-day” moving forward. Saban also explained why they decided to not put the reigning Heisman Trophy winner back into the game.

“Bryce has a little AC sprain in his shoulder,” Sarkisian said. “We’ll have to take it day-to-day. I think he’s okay. Doesn’t have a serious injury. We didn’t think he could go back in the game today because I didn’t think he had much steam on throwing the ball. He’s had these before and after a few days, he starts to respond pretty well. So, we’ll just have to see how it goes and play it day-to-day.”
Nick Saban claps back at reporter over quarterback question
Saban couldn’t make it out of his Arkansas post-game press conference without being asked about the quarterback situation next week. In what was viewed as the preseason game of the year vs. Texas A&M, Saban will have some things to figure out when it comes to Young and Jalen Milroe.

Saban decided to have some fun with the reporter after being asked the question, clapping back at him a bit. He said the original plan was to call Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher to give him the plan. But if he had answered the question, the press conference may have been enough.
“I don’t know,” Saban said. “I was going to call Jimbo afterwards and tell him exactly what we wanted to do. So, if he can hear it in a press conference, I don’t have to call him.”
In what was supposed to be the game of the year, Texas A&M will be coming to Tuscaloosa for a primetime matchup. Head coach Jimbo Fisher has plenty of his own issues to worry about but you can add preparing for two quarterbacks to his long list.
