The mother of Alabama Crimson Tide offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts recently took to social media to share a post-surgery injury update on her son.

This comes a day after head coach Kalen DeBoer explained that Roberts didn’t play in the team’s recent scrimmage because the staff is working to make sure he’s healthy for Week 1.

“Good morning Bama Fan Family!! Mr Jaeden Roberts aka.. My wittle guy is out of surgery and on his way home,” she wrote Sunday morning. “Thank you all for the kind words, prayers and positive vibes. Their bodies endure so much and they need all the prayers and support they can get! Thanks again! #RollTide.”

His mother went on to clarify that this surgery was on one of his hands, writing “on his hand” in a reply to a fan asking what kind of surgery he needed.

Jaeden Roberts came to Alabama as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 14th-ranked offensive tackle in that cycle. Since then, he’s also become one of the best offensive linemen in the country and is now expected to be a high pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Last season, Alabama was 47th in the country in rushing offense, gaining 172.64 yards per game on the ground. The Crimson Tide were also 129th in sacks allowed, giving up 3.5 per game. With a new head coach and a new offensive system in place for 2024, Jaeden Roberts is expected to be a key piece of an improving offensive line.

Jaeden Roberts has been dealing with injury issues going back to the Spring, when he suffered an apparent leg injury.

Still, despite his recent surgery, DeBoer is confident Roberts “will be able to play Week 1.”

Kalen DeBoer evaluates Alabama’s battle on line of scrimmage

Following Saturday’s scrimmage, Kalen DeBoer broke down what he saw from the battle on the line of scrimmage for Alabama.

“I thought it was probably the best give and take as far as pressure but also just really being able to kind of dig in and give a pocket for the quarterback, so when we needed some time, they did it,” DeBoer said.

“But there was also some times, especially like last week, where the defense got to the quarterback and finished drives off and a lot of times those are in your third down situations. Third down, back to the wall, got home.”
