Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe recently shared that former Alabama and current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is his true inspiration as a player.

It was at Disneyland ahead of the Rose Bowl when Milroe explained that he looked up to Hurts for how he has handled himself and the composure that he’s shown throughout his career.

“Jalen Hurts is my true inspiration,” Jalen Milroe said. “Because through everything he always kept a smile on his face and a chip on his shoulder. When everybody turned their backs on him, he saw the bigger purpose in his future.”

Another, off-the-field, reason why Milroe is such a big fan of Hurts is his faith.

“And he’s a man of faith. You can’t beat a man that’s a man of faith. That’s someone who I love a lot. I have a connection with him. I consider him my brother. J Hurts, I applaud him because who he is as a person, not too many people could be like.”

There are a few obvious comparisons between these two quarterbacks that go beyond both playing for Alabama, too. This season, Milroe has thrown for 2,718 yards and 23 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 468 yards and 12 touchdowns. Hurts, in his first season as a starter for the Crimson Tide, threw for 2,780 and 23 touchdowns. He also rushed for 954 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Perhaps more important than their statistical similarities, they were both benched by head coach Nick Saban, handled themselves as well as possible, and bounced back from the experience.

For his part, Jalen Hurts has noticed Jalen Milroe too.

“He’s had a great year. He’s always been a very special player. He’s a Texas kid. And he’s just he’s just, he’s just continued to grow and grow and grow and it’s been really, really nice to watch,” Hurts said.

“So I’ve been supporting him from a distance, and I’m happy to see him getting into the Final Four. I’m happy to see him have the opportunity to lead his team and hopefully get a national title, so all my support goes to him.”

Jalen Milroe evaluates what stands out about Michigan ahead of Rose Bowl

Ahead of his shot in the College Football Playoff against Michigan, Jalen Milroe shared what stands out to him about the Wolverines.

“Michigan, first thing that pops up on tape, they’re a very tough team,” Milroe said. “There is a reason why they’re undefeated. Because of how all the pieces came together, they force turnovers. They play hard together and we see that. It jumps off on tape, so we have a hard task in front of us and we have to prepare the right way to be ready to play Michigan.”
