No. 7 Alabama is set to hit the road this weekend for a trip to No. 11 Tennessee and, given the recent history in the rivalry, the Crimson Tide won’t be taking it lightly.

The Volunteers won the last meeting between the two schools in Knoxville 52-49, knocking off a really good Crimson Tide squad. That meeting is both fuel for the fire and a reminder to current Alabama players.

“I definitely played on the road before,” quarterback Jalen Milroe said. “I know what’s required to be successful on the road and what needs to take place at the quarterback position so that our offense can be the best us.”

Alabama’s offense has not been firing on all cylinders as of late. A few costly mistakes nearly cost the team the game against South Carolina last weekend.

Milroe had an ill-advised safety called against him when he was flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone. He also threw a costly interception just before halftime that led to South Carolina points.

And you can bet the crowd at Tennessee will be amped and ready to show the Alabama quarterback what’s what. Milroe broke down the key to locking in.

“And now going into Knoxville it’s going to be so important the communication,” Milroe said. “Communication, No. 1. Keying into our reads, have great eye discipline. Understanding our assignment on each and every play, locking into the details and not letting external factors control our controllables.

“When we factor that in through our preparation that’s going to allow us to grow throughout the whole game, and that’s something we want to try to do, continue to have our foot on the gas, acknowledge what we need to do throughout the game and just communicate the best way we possibly can.”

Alabama will open the game as a 1.5-point favorite, but Tennessee is certainly capable of coming out with a win.

The two teams are set to meet at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday on ABC.
