Jalen Milroe details how much he prioritized growth in summer
Jalen Milroe took the media behind the curtain after leading Alabama to another victory against Texas A&M in Week 6.
The Crimson Tide quarterback is looking better and better week after week, and he explained that much of his improvement has to do with what he prioritized over the offseason, in preparing for moments like this.
“I think in the offseason, it’s very key to enhance my game. As far as, just improving as a whole,” explained Milroe. “Being an efficient passer, and also just you know, training for all positions in a game. I think that’s very key. Offseason grind, but also just getting with the receivers, and getting the timing down with them. I just give all credit to the receivers. They got open. I was able to deliver the football.
“It just came from the offseason grind, and just trying to prepare as much as possible, for all the opportunities that presented itself.”
Moreover, Milroe’s improved play has Alabama back in the College Football Playoff competition. If the Crimson Tide win out, that loss from earlier this season likely won’t prohibit them from making their national title dreams a potential reality.
It’s far too early to think about that, but Jalen Milroe is on the right track it seems, and the Crimson Tide could be ready to make their doubters believe again in 2023.
Nick Saban elaborates on Jalen Milroe’s growth throughout the 2023 season
Meanwhile, Nick Saban is pleased with the growth he’s seeing from Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroeat the moment. The Crimson Tide leader took the podium to heap some praise on his quarterback, during his press conference on Monday.

“Absolutely,” Saban responded, asked if Milroe’s been growing every day. “The big thing that we’ve tried to continue to keep playing the next play. There’s not always going to be perfect plays, but whatever happened on the last play is a learning experience for you, to grow and get better. Focus on what you have to do the next play, but you cannot allow one play to affect the next play. So that’s something I think he’s learned, and doing a lot better.
“Staying much more positive on the sidelines. Communicating really well with his teammates and the coaches, in terms of what he saw, what he didn’t see, what he needs to do to get it corrected. So I think that’s something that comes a little bit with experience, but also it comes with awareness, and I think we’re making good progress in both areas.”
Alas, it feels like Alabama’s world came crumbling down a couple of weeks ago, but the Crimson Tide still have a shot to get to the SEC title game, and in-turn, the College Football Playoff. Nothing is off the table at the moment.
Time will tell, but Jalen Milroe will have to keep up his improved play for that to happen, and Nick Saban is evidently expecting him to do so moving forward.
