For Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, it was a storybook ending to the Iron Bowl. He threw a miracle touchdown pass in the final minute of the game, helping the Crimson Tide keep their hopes of the Playoff alive.

After the game, Milroe went viral as he celebrated, calling for himself to win the Heisman Trophy. Ahead of the SEC Championship Game, Milroe explained that it was an emotional reaction.

“First off, that was an emotional moment,” Jalen Milroe said. “So, things came out that was all through emotion. So, that’s number one. But the biggest thing was that I was just so proud of the guys and to be in the moment.”

In general, Jalen Milroe is not seeking out individual honors. Instead, he emphasized that his focus is on improving and succeeding on the task at hand as a team.

“The biggest thing that I wanted to do was just be the best teammate I can be and worry about the task at hand. And the task at hand is trying to improve from Auburn and build on the good things that won the game and also the negative plays that happened in the game. Moving forward, the biggest thing is just refocusing and worrying about the task at hand.”

The task at hand this week for Alabama is a tall one. The Crimson Tide have a game against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game coming up. Going into the game, the Bulldogs have won 29 straight games and the last two national championships.

Jalen Milroe and Alabama are looking to end that streak by Georgia. In doing so, the Crimson Tide will make themselves a legitimate team in the College Football Playoff debate. However, a second loss would likely end any shot at making the Playoff.

Nick Saban insists Alabama practices play that resulted in go-ahead TD

After the Iron Bowl, head coach Nick Saban insisted that Alabama does practice the play that resulted in a go-ahead touchdown. However, he did also admit that some amount of random luck is involved.

“Believe it or not, we actually practice that play, every Friday when we do walkthrough and we do special situations. We get in that formation, everybody runs down the field and runs varying routes in the end zone. And Jalen [Milroe] made a great throw, but IB really kind of got himself in position where there was some room to throw it. He pushed inside and the DB was inside of him and then he came back out and Jalen threw it back out to him and it was a great catch. It was a great throw,” Saban said.

“You tell them they’re only going to rush three guys, sometimes two and he’s reading the guys down the field and they’re doing things to try to get open and he’s gotta pick the guy that — he’s going to have plenty of time, he’s gotta pick the guy that he thinks has got the best chance to catch it. And IB got position on the guy and Jalen did a good job of recognizing it and throwing it. But that is a play that we actually work on. And I must admit that I think you have to be a little lucky for it to work, but I’ll take it.”
