Jalen Milroe on Nick Saban's birthday: 'He's getting old but still acts young'
Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban is hoping for more treats than tricks on his 72nd birthday this Halloween. However, amid the season, Saban isn’t focused on celebrating his birthday as much as he is on playing LSU this week. Still, his Crimson Tide team knows what he really wants for his birthday.
Quarterback Jalen Milroe explained that Nick Saban is as young as ever in how he acts. He also added that Saban does want a birthday gift. He wants a win against those Tigers.
“I think the biggest gift he wants is a win this week, we all know that,” Jalen Milroe said. ” We all know that in the locker room, but we all [are] definitely going to tell him happy birthday. He’s getting old but still acts young. That’s the funny part. He does everything young. He’s a lot of fun, though.”
Nick Saban certainly is going strong amid a season that’s proving to be one of his most impressive individual coaching seasons to this point, bouncing back from an early loss with a Crimson Tide team that is rapidly improving throughout the season.
Funnily enough, Jalen Milroe absolutely nailed what Nick Saban shared that he wants for his birthday.

“I mean, the game’s the most important thing, that would be an outstanding birthday present if we could play well in this game and so that’s what I’m focused on,” Saban said. “And that’s what you know we’re really trying to do. You know, when your birthday or holidays come up in football season, they’re really not holidays and they’re really not birthdays. You get older but you don’t really celebrate much.”
Nick Saban explains hope for how Alabama players handled bye week
Alabama had a bye week leading into LSU week. That’s a huge advantage if the Crimson Tide used it properly, and Nick Saban knows exactly what he wanted out of his players over that bye week.
“I think that you know, you want your players, as I alluded to before, to enjoy their time off, but you also want them to be focused and ready to go, when they come back. So, there’s a balance in all that. You know, you can’t dissipate, and go and not eat right and not do the right thing while you’re off. You can still enjoy yourself, but you also can stay focused on what you need to do when you come back, and I think [there’s] combination and balance, in all that. Balance in life is important, about everything that you do,” Saban said.
“That kind of balance can create very positive results for you, when you come back and you’re ready to go. If you didn’t think about your job, what your responsibility is one minute for three days, you’re probably not going to benefit very much from the time you had off.”
