Alabama made short work of Chattanooga on Saturday, going ahead 31-0 and making it a light afternoon’s work for quarterback Jalen Milroe in an eventual 66-10 win.

Milroe, who has been razor sharp in recent weeks, picked up right where he left off last week. He was electric from jump, going 13-of-16 passing for 197 yards with three touchdowns.

He didn’t view Chattanooga as an inferior opponent but a chance to grow.

“We’ve got to see everything as an opportunity,” Milroe said. “Opportunity to grow and then also get the chemistry together as an offense. We’re steadily growing. We’re not a finished product but we’re steadily building.”

The Crimson Tide didn’t mess around on Saturday. They’d piled up 368 yards by halftime and went on to continue to put up big numbers even with backups in.

The team finished the game with 574 total yards, well balanced between the passing game and the running game. Alabama finished with 315 yards rushing, with eight different players toting the rock and four players recording rushing touchdowns.

Both backup quarterbacks even saw action.

Of course, Jalen Milroe put the nail in the coffin on the game well before either of the other two stepped on the field. He explained what he was focused on Saturday.

“Biggest thing that we talked about is just being a point guard with the football and also doing your job,” Milroe said. “I think that’s very key for anybody on offense, on defense, no matter what it’s all about doing your job. Then you’ve got to applaud coach (Tommy) Rees. Coach Rees dialed up a good gameplan. All I did was just try to be a point guard with the ball.”

With the win Alabama moved to 10-1 on the season, well within striking distance of a College Football Playoff berth. Only two games remain: the Iron Bowl and the SEC Championships Game.

Neither will be easy. But Jalen Milroe and company are ready.

“Biggest thing we’ve got to do is focus on the task at hand, be where our feet are, then we’ll get to the game at Auburn,” Milroe said.
