Alabama suffered one of the biggest defeats of 2022 when Tennessee captured a victory over the Crimson Tide last season. As Week 8 arrives, they’re looking to exact some revenge.

While quarterback Jalen Milroe watched on the sidelines as Bryce Young lead Alabama into battle last season, it’s his turn to try to defeat Tennessee in 2023. Ahead of the showdown, Milroe shared what stuck with him from last season’s trajectory-altering loss for the Crimson Tide.

“I would say one thing, the atmosphere was great. The atmosphere was great,” explained Milroe. “Our fans are going to be great this weekend, I know that for sure. With the juice they bring, the energy they bring. I’m excited for that. But of course, we didn’t come out on top during the game, so we have to look at it as a learning moment. Not linger in that, but to learn with some things we did wrong during that game, and try to improve for this game.

“Just acknowledge that we’re not a finish product, by any means. So I think that’s very key, and like I said, there’s a challenge that’s going to be held this weekend, so we’re excited to you know, face it this weekend.”

Moreover, Tennessee comes into the matchup ranked No. 17 (Alabama is No. 11) with, like the Crimson Tide, one loss on the season. Similarly, both teams have exploded out of the gates since their respective losses and have had their most successful performances since those games.

While Milroe and Alabama got off to an inconsistent start, Alabama has seemingly figured it out at the best possible time. Continuing, the Crimson Tide quarterback elaborated on how he’s preparing for the showdown.

“It’s going to take a lot of preparation this week in just preparing for how hard our opponent is, but it’s a great opportunity for us and we’re excited for the challenge,” Milroe said on Monday. “… It’s just another opportunity for us to have fun. We get to play in front of our fans this weekend so we’re excited about that.

“A lot of energy will be in the air with playing a great opponent and it’s going to be a lot of fun this weekend so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

Tennessee fans had their fun in 2022, but Jalen Milroe will be hoping to keep them from celebrating in 2023. Time will tell if he’s able to get the job done or not.
