Alabama receiver Jameson Williams is there to support Bryce Young both on and off the field, including at the Heisman ceremony. Asked his reaction to his quarterback winning the award, Williams delivered a humorous response.

“I was tuned in,” he said. “I was sitting the closest to the TV. I probably almost lost eyesight. I was so happy for Bryce. That was a great achievement and he really deserved that.”

The receiver played a big part in Young’s phenomenal year, finishing as the Crimson Tide’s top pass catcher. He has 68 catches, 1,445 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season, the latter two of which are team highs.

He wasn’t the only 1,000-yard receiver for Young and Alabama, however. John Metchie III was right behind him, currently with 96 catches for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns.

Young earned a massive 83% of possible Heisman voting points, beating out runner-up Aidan Hutchinson in a landslide. He became the first quarterback in school history to win the sport’s most coveted award.

He boosted his resume a 421-yard three touchdown performance against top-ranked Georgia in the SEC title game. Jameson Williams was again the top target of Bryce Young, finishing with seven catches for 184 yards in the game prior to the Heisman ceremony.

The duo will be counted on to do even more to close the year, as the Tide earned the top seed in the College Football Playoff. If they are to advance to the national championship, they will need to take out their second undefeated team in as many games. Alabama faces Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl at 3:30 p.m. ET on Dec. 31.

Young and Williams will run into yet another top 10 defense, as the Bearcats rank eighth in the country and second against the pass. Given the Tide already took out Georgia, they should enter confident in their abilities to do the same against Cincinnati.

It has already been a special season for both Young and Williams, and a championship would further cement their Alabama legacy. A junior, Williams has the option to enter the NFL draft at the conclusion of the year. Young, however, will stay at least one more season in Tuscaloosa.
