The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide are battling it out for the 2023 SEC Championship on Saturday in one of the biggest games of the college football season. The two titans of the college football world will battle it out yet again for SEC supremacy. Unfortunately, the Alabama Crimson Tide got some bad news on running back Jase McClellan at the beginning of the game.

He was spotted in a walking boot on the Crimson Tide sideline ahead of the game. McClellan will not be available at all in the SEC Championship Game. Backup running back Roydell Williams is starting in his place for Alabama in the matchup.

Plenty of the reports leading up to the big game on Saturday had McClellan listed as questionable, so it’s not much of a surprise to see him get ruled out early. Still, it’s a big loss in the biggest game of the season for the Tide. Georgia has gotten healthier, and they have a number of their offensive weapons back, including tight end Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey.

McClellan was actually seen fielding kickoffs during warmups on Saturday night, so it was clear it was close call in ruling him out. CBS cameras showed him on the Alabama sideline without his helmet on during the game.

This season, McClellan has 166 carries for 803 rushing yards and six touchdowns. As a receiver, he’s hauled in 13 catches for 126 receiving yards.
