Jason Jackson addresses the idea of re-seeding hosts after regionals
Jason Jackson touched on some interesting topics as he prepares to lead Alabama into battle against Wake Forest in the Super Regional.
One thing Jackson was asked about was the idea of re-seeding the host for the Super Regional round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament following the Regional round. Evidently, Jackson doesn’t have any qualms with that idea.
“Somebody else brought that up, I can see where that would work,” answered Jackson, asked for his thoughts on the possibility. “That’s for people above my pay-grade to make those decisions, but you know. It is what it is right now. We’re really excited to go play this weekend, but in the future you could see where that would work.
“I’m sure there’s a lot of factors that go into that that we don’t even think about, but I have heard people say that kind of stuff.”
Alas, it makes plenty of sense. Instead of being locked into a certain bracket, a re-seeding could help with fairness and to get the right teams playing each other at the most important time of their respective seasons.
While that’s something the NCAA may look into for the future, it’s not on the forefront of Jason Jackson’s mind. He’s just hoping to keep Alabama’s season going beyond this weekend.

With a chance to go to the College World Series, the Crimson Tide will have to go through the top team in the nation in the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. While that sounds daunting, Jackson and his squad are keeping their emotions in check, as he explained to the media where the Crimson Tide’s mindset is at.
“I don’t think you have to — the guys are going to be fired up. They know that we’re playing in a Super Regional. We’re not going to try to downplay that,” explained Jackson, asked if Alabama will treat the Super Regional like any other series. “I think that the beauty of this team, or one of the things that’s made this team so special is they are an older team with a lot of experience, and even though they haven’t been in a Super Regional, they carry themselves like they’ve been there. I think we’ll do a good job this week of keeping everything, as much as we can, business as usual.
“But I know there’s going to be some extra excitement. We’re not going to pretend that there’s not. But I think our focus, and what these guys have been able to do, is continue to keep the main thing that main thing. Focus on going one at a time. Go win Game 1 and go from there.”
Alas, Jason Jackson has done a phenomenal job with Alabama thus far, and nobody will be doubting them against Wake Forest. It’ll be a tough challenge, but the Crimson Tide are up for it, and ready to try to move on the Omaha.
