Alabama isn’t used to losing multiple games in the regular season. That’s part of why this season has been surprising for the Crimson Tide, it hasn’t met the standard or the preseason expectations for this time. However, it’s important for the players on the team to stay focused on the task at hand.

Offensive lineman Javion Cohen explained that Alabama has the right mindset moving forward because the season isn’t over.

“Still a lot to be playing for,” Javion Cohen said. “Still have a season to play. We still have a standard to uphold.”

“So, we’re just gonna go out there and try our best every game.”

Javion Cohen was then asked about the mindset in the locker room and how they’re staying in a positive place as a group, rather than on an individual level.

“It’s positive talk,” Javion Cohen explained. “You know, we pull from our leaders often and we’re all on the same page as far as what we need to do to finish this season. It’s not over just cause you took a loss. Still more games to be played, and we’re all looking forward to Ole Miss this week.”

So, the mentality is looking forward and focusing on the future, not past losses. That’s important because while LSU now holds the SEC West tiebreaker, the season isn’t over yet and the Crimson Tide still have plenty to play for.

Javion Cohen was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020. During his time at Alabama, Cohen has been a key piece of the offensive line his entire time in Tuscaloosa. That includes being on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2020 and has been a consistent starter for the Crimson Tide.

Byron Young says Alabama has a lot to play for

When the standard at a program is to make the College Football Playoff and win a national championship, having a two-loss regular season can be incredibly disappointing. Still, Alabama players like Byron Young think the Crimson Tide still have plenty to play for this year.

“I think it’s a challenge, but at the same time, we’ve still got a lot of play for,” Young said.

“We’ve gotta play for the name on the back of our jersey, play for the name on the front of it and we’ve gotta play for everybody that’s beside us. I’m gonna come in every day and work just like I’m going to play for a national championship next Saturday. That’s what I expect everybody else to do.”
